Gunmen att@ck Tiv community in Taraba, k!ll three

Gunmen suspected to be armed herders have k!lled three persons in Tse Bawa, a Tiv village in Chanchanji Ward, Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.


It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the community on Friday afternoon, January 30, 2026, firing sporadically and sending residents into panic.


The victims of the attack were identified as Faasema Alibo, Mr. Mfavega, and an elderly man from Chanwa community.


Eyewitnesses said the attack was sudden, forcing many villagers to flee into nearby bushes for safety, while houses and farmlands were deserted.


As at press time, security agencies were yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but residents expressed deep fear over what they described as repeated attacks on Tiv settlements in the area.


Community members lamented the continued loss of lives and called on the Taraba State Government and security agencies to urgently step up security presence to prevent further bloodshed and protect vulnerable rural communities.
